Who Am I?

— The Universe —

When I sleep, I am The Universe.  I live all lifetimes, experience everything.  No reality is beyond my reach.  I conjure worlds of magnificence, worlds of modesty.  I am the galaxies, the atoms and everything in between.  Slight changes of thought destroy worlds or create them.  I am all-powerful, restricted by nothing.

— The Body —

Most of the day, I am The Body.  Like a machine, I pull the levers to make it work and occasionally it requires refueling or maintenance.  I move The Body through a world of chaos, aware that everything external could be a danger to this soft fleshy robot.  The external world is out of my control.  I can only control the actions of The Body.  I use it to the best of my ability, and sometimes take proper care of it.

— The Nothing —

For about 15 minutes a day, I am The Nothing.  My eyes close, and my awareness withdraws.  I recede into my head until I am only a single point.  I am infinitely small, located just behind my eyes.  As my body’s breathing steadies, I explore my senses.  I visit the tongue and remember the various flavors I experienced that day.  I turn to the ears and hear every detailed sound around.  I feel my body live without me, for I have no power over even it.  I control not my thoughts, not my emotions.  I am a powerless point.

I am grateful for the body, which allows me to experience this world through its senses
